The second round of presidential elections has begun in Moldova.
The opening of more than two thousand polling stations took place at 07:00 local time (in Belarus at that time it was 8:00 am).
It is emphasized that more than 230 sites operate outside Moldova.
The Moldovan Central Election Commission accredited almost 2.5 thousand observers, including 878 international ones.
However, there are no representatives from Russia or the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly among them, reports MIA Rossiya Segodnya .
The closing of polling stations in Moldova is scheduled for 21:00 local time (in Belarus it will be 22:00 at that time).
There are two candidates for the post of head of the Moldovan state.
We are talking about the current president of the European country, Maia Sandu, as well as the representative of the Socialist Party, Alexandru Stoianoglo.
Sandu is a supporter of Moldova's European integration and supports anti-Russian sanctions.
But Stoianoglo believes that Chisinau should maintain normal relations with Moscow. At the same time, the candidate has nothing against integration with the EU.
Let us recall that following the results of the first round, the current President of Moldova took first place with 42.45% of the votes. Stoianoglo came in second with 25.98% of the votes.
The second round was called because no candidate managed to gain an absolute majority of votes.
