Restaurant Owner's Son Takes People Hostage in France

It recently became known that in the French town of Issy-les-Moulineaux, located near Paris, people were taken hostage in one of the restaurants.

Initially, the media wrote that it was the owner of the catering establishment who did this.

A little later, the Figaro newspaper, citing a police source, reported that the hostages had been taken by the son of the restaurant owner.

He is reported to be armed with a knife. There were no customers at the time - the criminal took the establishment's employees hostage.

The attacker barricaded himself in the premises on November 16 at around noon and held four restaurant employees hostage, writes MIA Rossiya Segodnya.

It is known that the police cordoned off the area and surrounded the restaurant. Incidentally, it is located just a few dozen meters from the Paris ring road.

Special forces from the capital's police are working at the scene.

According to Figaro's source, the person who took people hostage had not previously come to the attention of law enforcement officers.

It is noted that the criminal stated his intention to take his own life.
