Presidential elections in Moldova. CEC recognizes 2nd round as valid

Presidential elections are underway in Moldova. According to the local Central Election Commission, voter turnout in the second round was almost 30%.

According to the country’s legislation, a vote must be considered valid by at least 20%.

Thus, the Central Election Commission of Moldova officially recognized the second round of the campaign as having taken place, writes the Belta agency.

As for the turnout figures, the information is reportedly accumulated by an information system.

It also updates data on the official website of the country's Central Electoral Commission online.

Let us recall that in the second round of elections, the current President Maia Sandu and former Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo are competing for the highest official post.

Earlier, on October 20, 11 candidates participated in the election campaign. Sandu won 42.49% of the votes, and Stoianoglo - 25.95%.

At the same time, a referendum was held in Moldova on the issue of amending the Constitution regarding the irreversibility of Chisinau’s European course, supported by 50.35% of voters.
