Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski proposed transferring Crimea to a United Nations mandate to hold a referendum on its status.
The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry made this proposal at a YES meeting in Kyiv.
Sikorsky's statement is quoted by the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian publication "Strana".
The head of Polish diplomacy noted that Crimea is symbolically important for the Russian Federation and especially for its president Vladimir Putin, but is strategically important for Ukraine.
I don’t see how they can reach an agreement without demilitarizing Crimea, ” the minister said.
He proposed placing Crimea under a UN mandate in order to hold a fair referendum on its status.
And we could postpone this for 20 years, ” added the head of the Polish diplomatic mission.
