On November 15, the opposition took control of a complex of government buildings in Abkhazia.
The security forces who were maintaining order are leaving the buildings.
TASS reports this.
The reason for the protests was the planned ratification of an agreement with Russia on the implementation of investment projects in the republic by Russian legal entities.
The opposition also demanded the resignation of the republic’s president, Aslan Bzhania.
At the moment, the opposition has taken control of the entire complex of government buildings – the presidential administration, the government, and the parliament.
According to preliminary information, 8 people were injured, one was hospitalized.
In order to stabilize the situation, the President withdrew from parliament the bill on ratification of the agreement with the Russian Federation and called on citizens not to succumb to provocations.
