French prosecutors seek 5-year prison term for Marine Le Pen
In France, prosecutors have requested a five-year prison term for the head of the National Rally party, Marine Le Pen.
The politician is accused of fictitiously hiring party assistants in the European Parliament.

The prosecutor's office is excessive in its demands, especially regarding the immediate execution of the sentence against all defendants, the politician said.
She hopes that the court will not do what the prosecutor wants, but will “listen to all our arguments.”
Le Pen also informed journalists that the requested sentence did not come as a surprise to her personally.
