On November 11, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko went on a working visit to Azerbaijan.

The World Climate Action Summit will take place here on November 11-12, with the Belarusian leader taking part.

In an express interview with journalists from the AnewZ TV channel, the President of Belarus stated that he considers the efforts being made in the world to combat climate change to be insufficient.

In particular, journalists asked whether Alexander Lukashenko considers the goal of limiting the increase in average global temperature to 1.5 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels to be achievable.

Reporters were also concerned about whether Alexander Lukashenko considers the measures taken by countries around the world to be sufficient.

Answering the question, the head of state noted that under the conditions that are today called sufficient, it will not be possible to achieve the set goal.

Nothing is changing. On the contrary, it is getting worse and worse. And those countries that should be primarily engaged in reducing emissions, they, unfortunately, are not doing this. And there is no light at the end of the tunnel in this regard. Therefore, the question arises about the effectiveness of such measures. I believe that they are ineffective, - the press service of the head of state said in a statement.

Commenting on the refusal of leaders of a number of Western countries to participate in the summit, the President of Belarus noted that they believe “that everything will be fine and the climate will not change.”

That is, they think it will be okay. It won't be okay. And there is no need to suffer because they didn't come. God sees, - Alexander Lukashenko summed up.
