Ukraine's Prosecutor General Decides to Resign Amid Fake Disability Scandal

A scandal has erupted in Ukraine over the issuance of fake disability certificates.

The SBU checked the activities of medical and social expertise centers.

The result was that several thousand disability certificates were declared fictitious.

In addition, it is known that charges have been brought against several dozen officials.

Volodymyr Zelensky demanded that law enforcement agencies respond to the situation.

Against the backdrop of what is happening, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Andrei Kostin, has decided to leave his post.

In addition, he condemned the practice of providing disability benefits and various accruals to employees of government agencies, TASS reports.

Statement by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine

Kostin announced the discovery of cases of abuse in the system of Ukrainian prosecutor's offices.

The lawyer expressed agreement with the Ukrainian leader’s position regarding the need to cancel all fictitious disability certificates.

In addition, Kostin is confident in the need to make changes to the legislation.

And the resigned Prosecutor General of Ukraine also believes that responsibility is needed - personal and political.

Kostin expressed gratitude to Zelensky and the Ukrainian parliament for their trust. At the same time, the lawyer decided to leave his post.
