France has once again announced the possibility of sending ground troops to Ukraine.

This statement was made on October 1 by the French Secretary of State for European Affairs, Benjamin Haddad, in an interview with the German publication Berliner Zeitung.

What Haddad said about France sending troops to Ukraine

At the end of February this year, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that at a meeting in Paris with the participation of about 20 Western countries, the sending of ground troops to Ukraine was discussed.

According to Macron, the meeting participants did not reach a consensus, but such a scenario cannot be ruled out in the future.

Later, the French leader again stated that it was possible to consider the issue of sending troops to Ukraine in the event of a breakthrough of the front line.

Then the French publication Le Monde reported that the French president wants to create a coalition in the European Union to jointly send instructors to Ukraine.

Macron said that we should not rule out anything, and this is still valid, Haddad commented in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung.

According to him, France believes that over the past two and a half years too many red lines have been drawn for Ukraine.

Commenting on the prospect of a diplomatic settlement, the Secretary of State said that Ukraine itself must make the decision to begin negotiations.

He also spoke in favor of Ukraine's admission to the European Union, noting that this would require compliance with certain rules concerning the rule of law, the fight against corruption, and market reforms.
