The Dutch Air Force has decommissioned all American F-16 fighters.
The decommissioned fighters will be transferred to Ukraine and Romania.
The press service of the Dutch Ministry of Defense reported this.
According to the Dutch Ministry of Defence, the fighter jets that have been decommissioned and not sold or written off will be transferred to Ukraine and Romania.
We are talking about 42 aircraft. 24 will be sent to Ukraine, 18 to Romania to the training center for Ukrainian pilots.
Romania has already received 14 aircraft. The number of fighters transferred to Ukraine is not disclosed for security reasons.
The F-16s have been in service with the Dutch Air Force for over 45 years. In 2019, the country began the transition to the F-35, ordering 52 aircraft from the United States. 40 have already been received and are in use.
In early September, the Dutch Ministry of Defence announced its intention to purchase another 6 F-35s.
