He stressed that further escalation is fraught with irreparable consequences both for the countries directly involved in the conflict and for all of humanity.

The President of Kazakhstan stated that with the refusal to conclude the Istanbul Agreement, a good chance to achieve at least a ceasefire was missed.

But the opportunity for peace still exists, he noted.

Tokayev proposed to consider all existing peace initiatives and come to an end to military action, and then begin to discuss territorial issues.

The peace plan between China and Brazil deserves support, the Kazakh leader said.

He noted that heads of state come and go, but peoples, especially neighboring ones, must live in peace and mutual understanding.

Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan shares the longest delimited land border in the world with Russia.

According to him, Russia and Kazakhstan are developing cooperation within the framework of strategic partnership and alliance.

At the same time, the Kazakh leader added, Kazakhstan has genuine sympathy for Ukrainians; there have never been any disagreements between Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
