Vietnam Typhoon Death Toll Rises to 152

Vietnam is experiencing a massive blow from the fierce super typhoon Yagi, which has already claimed more than 150 lives.

Approximately the same number of the country's residents went missing.

These are the consequences of the powerful flood in the north of the country, provoked by a typhoon.

This was reported by the Vietnam News Agency, citing data from the Department of Dam Management and Disaster Prevention of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Flooding and landslides in some provinces of the country have killed 152 people, the department said.

Another 140 residents are considered missing, the TASS agency writes , citing the Vietnam News Agency.

The highest number of dead, injured and missing people is reported in three mountainous provinces:

- Lao Cai (53 people died, 102 went missing);
- Cao Bang (29 dead, 23 missing);
- Yenbai (37 residents died, three were missing).

And the authorities of Hanoi have warned of the threat of flooding in some central areas of the capital - the water in the Hong Ha River is rising rapidly.

By this time, more than a thousand households located near the river dam had been evacuated.

Consequences of the flood

According to emergency services, 101,344 houses were inundated and destroyed as a result of floods in 26 provinces and cities across the country.

In addition, the elements damaged roads, power lines and communication lines.

In addition, more than 160,000 hectares of rice fields and about 30,000 hectares of other crops, as well as 16,000 hectares of fruit plantations, were destroyed.

The floods killed more than 1,300 cattle and 793,000 poultry.

In Vietnam, this flood is being called one of the largest in modern history.
