Why Strawberries Are Few Berries: Never Make These 3 Mistakes in May

If your strawberries don't produce enough berries year after year, you may be growing them incorrectly.

We'll tell you about three common mistakes in growing strawberries.

What not to do with strawberries

Firstly, you cannot feed strawberries during the flowering period with organic matter and nitrogen fertilizers.

Strawberries need nitrogen at the beginning of the growing season, when they are building up green mass.

When the plant switches to flower stalk growth and flowering, nitrogen can be harmful.

Secondly, early mulching may be the reason for the decrease in yield.

Do not apply mulch until May, the soil must be well warmed up.

In cold regions, strawberries should not be mulched until mid-May.

Also, you should not mulch strawberries before applying fertilizers - some of them will remain on the mulch.

In addition, you cannot leave flower stalks on strawberries planted late in the fall.

If the flower stalks are not cut off, the bushes will grow weak and will produce a meager harvest.
