Many gardeners know that eggshells are an excellent fertilizer.
The shell contains a lot of calcium and other substances necessary for plants to grow and develop.
However, not all crops respond positively to eggshell feeding.
We tell you which vegetables should not be fed with shells.
Firstly, potatoes. In soil with high calcium content, the yield decreases, the tubers become covered with a crust.
Secondly, tomatoes. They also do not like calcium-rich soil, grow poorly, and suffer from calcium chlorosis.
Thirdly, eggplants. With a high level of calcium in the soil, they lag behind in development and produce a smaller harvest.
Fourthly, legumes. They like slightly acidic soil, and the shell reduces acidity.
Fifthly, cucumbers. They tolerate liming well, but excessive application of shells can cause problems with the formation of ovaries.
Excessive use of shells can also harm other crops.
The optimal amount is 1-2 tablespoons per square meter of soil.
