Whether currants will produce a good harvest depends largely on the planting location.

We'll tell you how to choose the right place for this plant.

Where to plant currants

Firstly, the soil. Blackcurrant prefers moist, but not waterlogged loams.

Red and white currants are quite drought-resistant and love sandy loam soils.

Secondly, lighting. All types of currants prefer sunny areas.

In the shade, currants will suffer from fungal diseases and the berries will be tasteless.

Thirdly, the distance between bushes should be at least 60 centimeters, ideally one and a half meters.

The planting hole should be about half a meter deep. Drainage is only needed on swampy soils.

Plants with open roots are planted either in early spring or autumn, while those with closed roots are planted throughout the season.

Before planting, the roots are treated with growth regulators - they are immersed in the solution for an hour.

You can use, for example, "Kornevin", "Zircon", "Yantarin".

As for feeding currants during planting, any complex fertilizer will do (70 grams per plant).
