Many housewives are aware of the danger of water droplets falling on orchid flowers.
This situation can lead to the appearance of dark spots.
As a result, the plant will lose its beauty and quickly fade.
Knowing this risk, some people completely refuse to spray orchids.
However, this step is wrong.
The fact is that it is necessary to spray this beautiful representative of the flora, emphasizes the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh.
The main thing is that the water gets on the leaves, not on the flowers.
It should be immediately emphasized that the procedure has a positive effect on the plant. The flora representative "reacts" well to increased humidity.
But it is important to spray correctly.
Firstly, you shouldn't do it too often. Several procedures a week are quite enough. However, in hot weather you can pour water droplets on the orchid leaves several times a day.
Secondly, you need to use the "right" liquid. We are talking about soft and purified (or settled) water: the content of impurities should be minimal. In addition, the liquid should be at room temperature (or a couple of degrees warmer).
Thirdly, you need to use a sprayer. And we should be talking about a special device that creates a misty stream with very small droplets.
Fourthly, the procedure should be carried out on time. Ideal options: morning hours and the first half of the day. It is desirable that it is sunny and quite warm. However, the plant should be protected from direct sunlight: burns are possible.
Fifthly, water droplets should fall only on the leaves. But not on the flowers! In addition, the growth points should not end up in the water.
For reference
Orchidaceae (or Orchids) are the largest family of monocotyledonous plants.
