How and when to feed raspberries in spring: take care of the bushes correctly

Without care, raspberries turn into impenetrable thickets, in which there is nothing to look for except snakes and parasitic insects.
Therefore, gardeners regularly prune raspberry bushes and always feed the bushes. Moreover, in terms of feeding, the summer resident has no right to make a mistake.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", a scientist agronomist and landscape designer, told when to feed raspberries and what additives to use.
When to feed raspberries
It is impossible to answer this question right away. Much depends on whether the gardener applied fertilizers in the fall.
Firstly, if the raspberries have been thoroughly prepared for winter, then there is no need to apply fertilizers until flowering begins.
Secondly, if this moment was missed in the fall, then it is necessary to apply fertilizer as soon as the soil warms up and the bush begins to grow.
What to feed
1. At the beginning of the season, all plants need nitrogen supplements, which are added after the snow melts and the soil warms up.
It is recommended to use mineral fertilizers, since the absorption of nitrogen from organic matter takes longer.
At this stage, urea is used (10 g per 1 square meter), which must be incorporated into the soil after application.
You can add ammonium nitrate (15 g per the same area) or azophoska (30 g) in the same way.
You can also use complex fertilizers containing nitrogen.
2. The next raspberry feeding is carried out 2 weeks after the first.
At this stage, it is recommended to add organic matter.
This can be compost or humus (8 kg per 1 square meter).
Mullein solution (3 kg per 10 l of water and leave for a week, then dilute with water in a ratio of 1:10) – consumption 10 l per 1 square meter.
We prepare fertilizer from chicken manure in a similar way, but the finished solution must be diluted with water in a ratio of 1:20.
Fertilizer consumption remains the same.
Don't forget to water your raspberries, treat them for insects, and mulch them to keep weeds at bay and retain moisture in the soil.
