You can replant hydrangeas not only at the beginning of the summer cottage season, but also at its end.

If we talk about the regions of the middle zone, then here, according to the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, it is permissible to carry out this procedure in the period from the end of August to mid-September. In the south, hydrangeas can be moved to a new place even before October.

How to transplant hydrangea

Of course, you should start with preparing the planting hole. Its size should be at least 3 times larger than the volume of the plant's root system.

As a filling for the hole, use equal amounts of high-moor peat and garden soil (the one that remains after digging). You also need to mix 60 g of superphosphate and 30 g of potassium sulfate with the soil.

Now pour 10 liters of water inside, and after it has been absorbed, place the bush in the planting hole so that its root collar is level with the surface of the flowerbed. To do this, you may need to add soil to the bottom or, conversely, remove the excess layer.

All the voids around the roots should be filled using the same mixture of peat and garden soil, and at the end you need to water the hydrangea at the root - this will take about 8-10 liters of water.

All that remains is to mulch the hydrangea with a 6-8 cm thick layer of mulching material - this could be pine needles, bark or dry high-moor peat.
