The harvest of berries and all perennial fruit crops depends on the preparation of plants for the winter period.

To put it simply, it depends on feeding and other care methods. And if you do everything correctly, you can increase the yield several times next season.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to feed currant bushes in the fall.

When to feed currants

This must be done before the end of September. You should not delay adding the additives, because they must have time to be absorbed.

What to feed

Accurate dosages can be calculated using mineral fertilizers.

During this period, superphosphate (30-35 g per 1 sq. m), double superphosphate (15-20 g), and phosphorus flour (40-45 g) are added.

Don't forget about potassium chloride (25-30 g), potassium salt (30-35 g) or potassium sulfate (15-20 g), potassium magnesium sulfate (20-25 g).

You can simply add 50-55 grams of potassium monophosphate or 45-50 grams of phosphorus-potassium mixture.

These additives contain two substances necessary for a comfortable wintering of plants and a rich harvest in the new season.

Organics

Gardeners who prefer natural additives can add chicken manure, compost, and wood ash.
