The leaves of succulents are known to be waxy and thick, which allows gardeners to grow many new plants from them.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh shared simple instructions on propagating succulents.
1. The first thing you will need to do is remove a few of the lower leaves from the succulent stem.
Be careful - you should tear off the sheet by slightly rocking it from side to side.
2. After this, place the leaves in a pot with soil, which should be moistened in advance.
There is no need to bury the end of the sheet too deeply – it is enough to immerse it in the soil to a depth of 0.5-1 cm, while leaving the front side facing up.
3. Be patient and wait for the moment when the leaf takes root and a new sprout appears.
The waiting time depends on what type of succulent you are dealing with – as a rule, this process takes from several days to a week.
4. When you see that the leaf has lost its elasticity and wilted, you can separate it from the new shoot and replant it in the ground to get another plant.
If you leave a leaf in the soil, several new shoots may appear nearby.
