Bulbous flowers can be called a real decoration for the garden without false modesty. But if you want them to continue to delight you with their flowering, you should take care of the appropriate care, which begins with the correct storage of the bulbs.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told what to do with bulbs after digging them up.
After being removed from the soil, the bulbs of tulips, daffodils, crocuses and other flowers should be carefully sorted and sent to dry in a dark, dry and well-ventilated place, such as a barn or under a canopy.
Almost any container can be used for drying, the main thing is that it has holes for ventilation.
The drying process of flower bulbs should continue until their scales begin to peel off. On average, this takes two to four weeks, after which the bulbs are considered ready to be stored.
Don't forget to remove any dead leaves first.
If you have a lot of bulbs, you can throw away the small ones, as they are unlikely to bloom next year.
To store the bulbs, wrap them in newspaper or thin pieces of breathable fabric. If possible, add silica gel packets from shoe boxes.
Then the bulbs need to be placed in boxes and placed in a cool place, such as on a cabinet in a cool room.
