Ash is undoubtedly a valuable fertilizer for the garden and vegetable garden, which contains many useful microelements.

But when is it better to add it to the soil – in spring or autumn? The answer to this common question was found by the expert of the online publication “BelNovosti”, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

In fact, you won’t notice any major difference whether you apply fertilizer in the fall or spring months.

However, like any other high-quality organic matter, it is recommended to apply ash in the spring.

As a basic fertilizer, ash rich in phosphorus and potassium should be applied in early spring during digging.

As a result of such actions, you will be able to avoid stress in plants and root burns, which are often observed due to sudden alkalization of the soil.

If the fertilizer is applied early in the spring, it has time to fully react with the soil and become neutral by the time the plants are planted.

Another important point: it is not recommended to combine ash with other organic fertilizers, as well as with nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers.

You can apply ash to certain crops by watering, after neutralizing the fertilizer with acetic acid.
