Experienced gardeners know that no matter what crop you are growing, it is worth alternating high daytime and relatively low nighttime temperatures.
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , the temperature difference should be at least 5-7 degrees, maybe even more.
For example, if we are talking about growing tomatoes, the daytime temperature should be around 25-27 degrees (with a plus sign, of course), and at night – 17-18 degrees.
To achieve the desired result, you can take the seedlings out to spend the night on a glazed loggia, or you can, for example, turn off the radiators. Alternatively, ventilate the room before it gets dark.
If you do everything as it should be, your seedlings will not stretch out - on the contrary, they will grow and develop well, which means they will provide you with a bountiful harvest.
Finally, let us remind you of one more important point: the more light, the higher the temperature the plants can withstand. This means that they need to be given a higher temperature.
This rule also works in the opposite direction - the less light there is, the lower the temperature should be for plants.
For example, if it is cloudy outside, then, returning to the same tomato seedlings, the temperature for them should be 20-22 degrees, whereas on a sunny bright day – 25-27 degrees.
