How to Make a Garden Pest Trap: 3 Ways to Protect Trees

19.04.2024 11:00

In spring, gardeners have to be pretty nervous. Not only can the future harvest be destroyed by recurrent frosts, but pests also give them no peace.

Even timely treatments do not guarantee that the hordes of hungry insects can be stopped. Therefore, you cannot do without traps.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to make a trapping belt with your own hands.

Dry Belt

This option is best used in the summer, when the codling moth is active.

It is made very simply using non-woven material and even paper.

The material is tightly tied to the trunk, wrapped in 3-4 layers. Crawling under the fabric, insects cannot crawl further.

Don't forget to change the material once every 2 weeks.

Poisoned Belt

The scheme is the same, only the material is pre-treated with bitoxibacillin or 1% lepidocide.

Don't forget to cover it from rain, otherwise the trap will stop being effective. It will be enough to change it 2-3 times during the whole season.

Adhesive belt

You will need to buy cling film and pest control glue. The film is wrapped around the tree trunk, and then the glue is applied.

Make several holes in the film, otherwise the bark may rot. Do not apply glue directly to the tree bark.

Earlier we talked about how to understand that seedlings lack phosphorus .
