Have you seen how your summer cottage neighbors scald currant bushes with boiling water when spring comes? Or maybe you do it yourself?
According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , the latest research has shown that such “manipulation” is a useless and often dangerous activity.
Firstly, experts came to the conclusion that pouring boiling water on currants slows down their development.
The plant will have to take a long time to recover from the stress it has experienced – time is needed for all the cracks and wounds on the bark to heal.
Secondly, it is very difficult to bring boiling water to the plant.
In the minutes that you approach the currant bush with a pot of hot water in your hands, its contents may lose the temperature that is lethal to harmful insects.
And thirdly, parasites are also not as simple as we would like them to be.
They prepare for the cold weather and “preserve” themselves so thoroughly that they are able to survive any cataclysms in their shelter.
Earlier we wrote about whether it is worth planting fruit seedlings in the spring or whether it is better to wait until autumn.
