Perhaps experienced farmers do not need to be reminded that every cucumber has its place.
Parthenocarpic hybrids should be grown in a greenhouse, and bee-pollinated hybrids should be grown outdoors, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh never tires of repeating.
Parthenocarpic cucumbers do not require pollination, so they bear fruit well even without the presence of bees, which is why it is recommended to grow them in a greenhouse.
Bee-pollinated varieties require the presence of pollinators, so it is preferable to plant them in open ground, where insects have easier access.
But sometimes even on the packaging of seeds of parthenocarpic hybrids the manufacturer leaves a small note: “Pollinated by insects.”
This means that this particular variety cannot be planted in a greenhouse together with other parthenocarpic hybrids – their proximity is unacceptable.
Why? You may have noticed that parthenocarpic hybrids do not have male flowers, due to the fact that pollination leads to crop loss.
After pollination of such hybrids, cucumbers will either not develop at all or will grow crooked.
Even if you pick full-fledged cucumbers from the vines, be prepared for the fact that they will be full of seeds. When pickled or marinated, cucumbers turn out watery, loose and tasteless.
