Therefore, experienced gardeners prefer to deal a “preemptive blow” to the wireworm by planting certain crops that the pest cannot stand.
Green manure
Wireworms are very sensitive to green manure crops such as mustard, rapeseed, buckwheat and others.
The most effective, in the opinion of many, is mustard. It is planted in the fall, and in the spring the soil is plowed, leaving the remains of the plants that will repel pests.
Legumes
Planted next to potatoes, they, in addition to nitrogen enrichment, can also repel wireworms.
Dahlias
