Water left after snow melts is considered the best for watering seedlings because it has a lower content of various mineral salts, in particular, hardness salts.

But even such water can harm seedlings. If you want watering with melt water to be beneficial for plants, it is worth collecting it, adhering to certain rules, reminds the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

The main thing to consider when collecting snow is that it must be collected in ecologically clean areas.

You cannot collect snow, for example, directly under a thermal power plant chimney or next to a highway.

If the site is located next to a highway, it is necessary to retreat at least 200 meters from the road to avoid salt and reagents used to treat roads getting on the plants.

In addition, it is important to remember that when snow passes through the atmosphere, it accumulates acid-forming gases such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides.

To get rid of them, add half a teaspoon of baking soda to a 10-liter bucket of snow water.

The tiny amount of sodium added with soda will not harm the plants, but on the contrary, will only improve the quality of melt water and enhance its positive properties.

Earlier, the expert explained the difference between plants such as savory and wild savory.
