Peanuts are considered annual plants, which are planted in the spring and harvested a few months later in the fall.

According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , the process of growing this crop is not particularly difficult and can be carried out even by a novice gardener.

The full development cycle of peanuts takes from 120 to 160 days. For planting, you can use both unpeeled peanuts in pods from the supermarket and seeds from gardening stores.

Planting of peanuts begins after the soil temperature reaches 15 degrees, which in the middle zone usually occurs at the end of May.

The area of land for planting is carefully dug up and harrowed. Peanut seeds are placed in furrows at a distance of about 50 cm from each other. The distance between seeds in one furrow should be about 20 cm.

Then the seeds need to be covered with soil and watered with plenty of water.

Important: young shoots should be protected from the cold, covering them in case of cold weather, as they are very sensitive to low temperatures.

In addition, care procedures include providing good lighting for the peanuts and applying fertilizers - when the seedlings reach 10 cm and at the beginning of fruiting.

Watering of peanuts is carried out twice a month in the period before flowering. During flowering, watering is carried out every week. As soon as the fruits begin to form, watering should be stopped.

After the flowering period, peanut bushes are hilled to improve their growth and development. That's all you need to know to successfully grow peanuts.
