As a rule, when growing a particular crop using seedlings, gardeners and vegetable growers set themselves the goal of getting an early and abundant harvest of tasty and healthy fruits.

In the case of watermelons and melons, the situation is somewhat different, explains the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

These plants need to be grown from seedlings not so that you can enjoy the fruits earlier, but so that they simply have time to ripen.

This method is especially relevant for summer residents who live in the middle zone and regions with cold climates.

Their ripening period (as well as all others) is directly dependent on the variety and is on average 70-90 days.

Now let's move on to the exact figures. So, the planting of watermelon and melon seedlings in open ground is carried out in the period from May 25 to June 10.
