When planting fruit trees in your dacha, you need to consider not only the size of the plot, but also the compatibility of the plants.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh, an expert of the online publication Belnovosti, agronomist and landscape designer, tells us which trees should not be planted next to each other.
Firstly, it is necessary to avoid shading of low-growing trees by tall ones.
It is definitely not worth planting trees such as walnut and birch in a small area, they can grow huge.
Cherry is also a tall crop. Do not plant it near apple trees under any circumstances.
Secondly, it is better to avoid growing fruit and ornamental crops together.
In particular, you shouldn’t plant mock orange near an apple tree – the fruit tree may dry out.
It is also not recommended to plant conifers near fruit trees. They acidify the soil, and fruit trees do not like this.
