Many summer residents use peat soils to grow seedlings or indoor plants.

But, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said, they have one serious drawback.

The downside is that peat is very poorly wetted by water and does not retain moisture well, which is why plants dry out quickly.

Manufacturers have found a way out of the situation and, to improve the quality of peat, add perlite and other mineral materials to it, which significantly improve the quality of the substrate.

If you don’t have such additives on hand, but only have regular peat, which remains dry when moistened with water, try going another way.

Take the most ordinary gelatin (a teaspoon) and dissolve it in a small amount of hot water.

Add water to a volume of 1 liter and moisten the peat for the first time as soon as it is opened.

After this, the peat will absorb and retain water very well, making it a suitable substrate for sowing seeds, transplanting plants and planting seedlings.

Earlier, the expert spoke about 5 dwarf columnar pears that have a high yield and excellent taste.
