If you are determined to grow a spruce tree on your property using seeds, follow our recommendations.
The advice was shared by the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Since spruce seeds have a very low germination rate, it is recommended to sow them in large quantities.
To improve germination, you can sow on snow, since the seeds require stratification – cold treatment.
To sow seeds, you need to choose a place in the garden and delimit a small area with boards.
Then you should sprinkle the soil with a layer of earth, add sand and evenly distribute the seeds at a distance of about one centimeter from each other. After this, the seeds should be covered with snow.
It is important to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. The seeds may not germinate immediately, sometimes it may take several years.
The last nuance I would like to talk about is that spruce trees grown from seeds do not tolerate transplantation very well, so it is better to sow the seeds directly in a permanent place.
Earlier we published the gardener's and vegetable grower's lunar calendar for January 22-28.
