Despite the fact that dieffenbachia blooms rarely and unremarkably, it is a fairly popular plant, and all thanks to its leaves.
As the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh said, the leaves of dieffenbachia can be recognized by the patterns of spots and strokes of white, light green or cream color. The leaves can be "tiger" or "marbled", you can also find dieffenbachia with a light center of the leaf and a shade only along the border - in general, everything depends on the chosen variety.
In general, caring for this plant is not difficult, but sometimes the gardener may be faced with unpleasant surprises, which are mostly associated with the leaves of the dieffenbachia.
Firstly, plant growers often notice that the flower is losing leaves.
If the lower leaves fall off, no pathology is observed - such behavior is completely normal for the plant.
If the flower begins to resemble a palm tree with a tuft of foliage at the end of an unsightly bare trunk, this indicates that the dieffenbachia has grown old and it is time to propagate or re-root it.
Secondly, dieffenbachia leaves can turn yellow, and if this is quite normal for old “specimens”, then young leaves can suffer due to insufficient or excessive watering, hypothermia or sunburn.
In addition, the cause may be hidden in pests, which can be detected by examining the flower with a magnifying glass.
