Orchids need special attention and care, otherwise they will not bloom. And when an orchid blooms, it needs even more attention.

Moreover, it is not enough to admire the beauty of the inflorescences. It is necessary to have an idea of the rules of watering and other details.

Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to care for a blooming orchid in winter.

Air temperature

During the flowering period, at an air temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius, it will be enough to water the orchid once a week.

If this indicator is higher and the air humidity is low, then the plant is watered at intervals of once every 3-4 days.

It would not be a bad idea to spray the leaves and roots with water once a day during flowering to normalize air humidity.

How to water

The traditional method of watering is to place the pot in a container of water until the substrate is saturated with moisture, then drain off the excess.

A less popular method is to water the plant like regular flowers.

In any case, it is necessary to avoid stagnation of moisture in the flowerpot, since over-watering is destructive for it, as for most cultivated plants.

It is also important to water with soft or settled water at room temperature.

When watering with tap water, you can add a couple of drops of lemon juice to it - it will soften hard water.
