Every year, with the beginning of the summer cottage season, many gardeners and vegetable growers have a question: why do some seeds not germinate?

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh suggests considering the main causes of this problem and understanding ways to solve it.

One of the most common reasons why seeds do not germinate is that they are of poor quality or have expired.

It is necessary to choose only proven and high-quality seeds from reliable manufacturers, and also monitor the expiration date when purchasing.

Also, vegetable seeds do not germinate due to improper planting.

If the seed is placed too deeply into the soil, it may not have enough energy to germinate. That is why it is important to know the correct seeding depth.

Finally, seeds may not germinate due to unsuitable soil moisture and temperature conditions.

If the indoor or outdoor conditions are too humid and cold, the seeds may rot. And if the conditions are dry and hot, the seeds may dry out.

Earlier we talked about whether it is possible to place flowers and seedlings on the same window.
