Many summer residents face the so-called “ant problem” when they discover that after planting in a greenhouse, young plants begin to disappear.

According to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , small red ants are capable of this, which eat the juicy leaves of seedlings and seeds buried in the ground.

If you are faced with such a scourge, it is likely that there are anthills near your garden beds.

Therefore, your task is to find the pests’ shelters and pour boiling water from a kettle into the anthill holes.

The next step is to create a strip of sand soaked in garlic infusion around the perimeter of the greenhouse.

If you don't want the ants to come back, you'll have to do one more thing, namely plant repellent flowers and herbs around the perimeter of the greenhouse.

Particularly effective are such crops as mint, lavender, basil, calendula and nasturtium. Their bright and fragrant flowers not only decorate the greenhouse, but also create a powerful aromatic barrier for ants and other pests.

And finally: be sure to scatter dried eucalyptus, mint and lavender leaves between the beds. This measure is necessary to disorient the parasites.
