How to Grow Large, Sweet, and Juicy Radishes: Secret Fertilizer

28.12.2023 10:18

To prevent radishes from growing too small, tough and tasteless, do not feed the garden crop with manure.

In addition, there is no need to rely on mineral nitrogen fertilizers.

Root crops will be large, juicy and sweet if you replenish the lack of potassium and phosphorus in time.

Of course, you can use potassium monophosphate. Or you can use this combination: potassium sulfate and superphosphate. But it is better to focus on natural fertilizer - ash.

However, the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh does not recommend feeding radishes with unburned wood remains. It is necessary to use other ashes.

Super fertilizer for radishes

Wood ash is not quite suitable for this popular garden crop: it contains too much calcium and not enough potassium.

But ash formed as a result of burning grass, leaf blades and potato tops is a more interesting option. Such a product is a good source of both potassium and phosphorus.

About 300 grams of these unburned remains should be poured into a bucket. The rest of the container should be filled with plain water.

After 24 hours the liquid will be ready and should be poured under the radish roots.

Earlier, the expert listed the reasons why beets can grow small.
