For every houseplant, sooner or later the time comes when it needs to be replanted.

And if there are usually no difficulties with small flowers, then in the case of large plants, certain problems may arise. How to avoid them, explained the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

The first piece of advice from a specialist is to call someone for help - this way you will protect yourself from possible injury (for example, when working with a heavy pot of soil, you can strain your back), and also protect the above-ground part of the plant from damage.

To make it easier to remove the flower from the pot, make sure to water the soil first, then wait a while until the soil is completely soaked.

After this, lay the pot on its side and use a knife, which should be long and thin, to cut along the places where the soil touches the surface of the pot.

Now you can try to pull the base of the trunk and remove the plant.

The earthen lump with the flower roots must be moved to a new container with drainage and a thin layer of soil on the bottom. Carefully straighten the roots and spread them over the surface of the soil, then fill the remaining soil on the sides, not forgetting to compact it.

Important: the depth of the root collar should remain unchanged – at the same level as in the old pot.
