It is important for anyone whose plot pleases the eye with lush and colorful annual asters to know when and how to collect the seeds of this plant in order to acquire the same lush flower carpet next year.

In this matter (as in many others), the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh came to the rescue.

The appearance of the plant itself will help you determine the right time to collect seeds.

As soon as you notice the fluff of the asters, this means that after complete flowering, the petals of the asters wither, and in the middle of the flower that same fluff appears, you can start collecting.

If you miss the moment, there is a high risk that the seeds will be carried away by the wind or destroyed by the rain.

However, there is one way that will ensure that you do not miss the opportunity to acquire seed material for next year.

It consists of the fact that flowers that already have enough seeds ready to ripen need to be pulled out by the roots, after which the roots and flower stalks that have not yet bloomed need to be removed, and then the faded inflorescences need to be hung upside down.

There is only one requirement for the room in which ripening will take place: it must be dry.

During the drying process, the flower stalks will reach maturity and you will be able to collect the ripened seeds without any problems.

Earlier, BelNovosti reported on how to plant asters in the winter.
