The success of growing peonies in your backyard depends on many factors, including the correctness of the work.

An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the nuances of planting this flower with rhizomes, knowledge of which will help you turn your garden into a model of floristic art.

So, let's start the story from the moment you prepare a hole for peonies. Now you have to carefully arrange the seedlings and straighten the roots on all sides of the mound made at the bottom.

If you are planting herbaceous peonies, the root collar depth should be 4 cm. For larger tree varieties and hybrids, this value is slightly larger and ranges from 5 to 7 cm.

After this, you can fill the hole with a previously prepared soil mixture, during which the seedlings need to be supported.

Next, you need to compact the soil, creating a small ridge of earth around the plant. This simple action will prevent the plant from swaying from side to side with the slightest gust of wind. If the bush is very large, you can drive a peg next to it as a support.

The next step is watering. The amount of water, by the way, also varies depending on the type of flower - tree peonies require at least 10 liters of water, while herbaceous peonies need up to 7 liters.

The final procedure is mulching using peat and humus.

Earlier, BelNovosti reported whether it is possible to plant peonies from seeds.
