When growing seedlings, some gardeners sprinkle the sprouts with ground cinnamon.
This procedure only seems pointless at first glance.
It turns out that this action provides one very interesting effect.
An expert from the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the unexpected property of cinnamon.
Cinnamon has antibacterial and antifungal properties.
This is why the spice can be used as a means of protecting seedlings from very dangerous diseases.
Sprinkling the sprouts with ground cinnamon reduces the risk of the plant encountering fungal diseases.
And if you perform the procedure after the dangerous disease has made itself known, the spread of the fungus will be stopped.
There are two options. First: the gardener can perform the procedure immediately after planting the seeds. In other words, the spice must be on the ground.
Second option: the procedure can be performed later, when the sprouts appear.
Earlier, summer residents were told whether it was necessary to add wood ash to the soil for seedlings.
