It is unlikely that even a novice gardener will confuse copper and iron sulfate. But not everyone can correctly answer the question of what this or that product is needed for.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh decided to correct the situation and told about the distinctive features of each of the preparations.
Copper sulfate
This product should be considered, first of all, as a prophylactic antiseptic and contact fungicide.
Copper sulfate is used on soils with insufficient humus saturation, as well as in peat bogs and sandstones.
Another area of application is the sanitary treatment of premises and soil treatment, which is carried out before sowing.
Copper sulfate is a more gentle preparation than iron sulfate, which does not burn plant leaves.
Ferrous sulfate
In turn, iron sulfate should be considered as a means intended to eradicate fungal diseases. It is also used when it is necessary to eliminate lichens, moss and chlorosis.
The scope of the drug's action does not end there - it is needed for disinfection and elimination of harmful insects in the garden, as well as to saturate the soil with iron, if it needs it.
Please note: You can only use iron sulfate if the trees or bushes in your garden have been seriously ill this season.
And don’t even think about adding ferrous sulfate to whitewash: you’ll get an unpredictable result.
