Most perennials thrive even in severe frost.

But for this to happen, one important condition must be met: there must be a sufficient amount of snow.

In recent years, the weather has become unusually unpredictable. Snow can completely melt in the middle of the season, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Let's see what the expert of the online publication "Belnovosti" and agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh advises.

How much snow should there be on the flowers?

At the beginning of December, there was quite a lot of snow in Belarus, but if your flower garden was deprived of this gift of nature, then you can take the surplus and start hilling.

Irises, peonies, phlox, astilbe and other delicate perennials will thank you in the spring.

Note that the layer of snow above such flowers should be at least 30 centimeters.

Snow is also often thrown onto exposed areas of the alpine slide.
