However, the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", scientist-agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh insists: during December it is necessary not only to prepare for the New Year, but also not to ignore your plot.
What needs to be done during the first month of winter?
1. Protect fruit trees from rodents
To prevent sneaky mice from getting to the tasty bark of trees in your garden, trample the snow around the trunks. This way, the pests won't be able to make passages under the snow cover, which means they won't be able to get to your plantings.
2. Prepare cuttings
December is a great time to get cuttings of apple trees, currants and other crops. When preparing, observe two conditions: the cuttings should be about the thickness of a pencil, and they should have well-developed buds.
3. Stratify the seeds
From the seeds you have, select those that need stratification and put them in the refrigerator (not all at once, but depending on the crop).
4. Protect the greenhouse from snow
If December is snowy, the greenhouse frame risks not being able to withstand the load. Stops installed in the greenhouse will help to avoid the structure breaking.
5. Cover the plants
