What to do with boxes in which potatoes are stored: what action many summer residents forget to perform at the beginning of winter
This year, many gardeners managed to harvest a rich potato crop.
But the goal of the summer resident is not only to get more tubers, but also to preserve them for a long time.
With the onset of cold weather, the second task becomes quite difficult.
Moreover, before the onset of severe frosts, many owners of country plots forget to perform an important action with the boxes in which the harvest is stored.
An expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", agronomist and landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh reminded what needs to be done with these containers in December or even at the end of November.
Important action with potato boxes
It is possible that the first weeks of December will be frosty. Moreover, in many regions it is already cold now.
In order for the harvest to “survive” the winter, potato boxes must be urgently insulated.
For this purpose, you can use blankets and old (but not dirty) clothes. It is enough to simply surround the container with these things.
It is important to maintain ventilation. If the boxes are completely covered with fabric, the process of rotting vegetables may begin: the potatoes will have to be thrown away.
But if you do everything correctly, the nightshade harvest will last at least until the beginning of spring.
