Phalaenopsis orchid is the most popular species and the most unpretentious of all varieties.
But sometimes even this bright and unpretentious plant has to be saved when the roots begin to dry out or rot. There is one folk remedy - with turmeric.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told how to revive an orchid.
1. First, you need to stop watering the orchid to make it easier to remove old or rotten roots. Damaged roots are cut off, leaving only healthy ones.
2. Prepare a solution for watering by dissolving one teaspoon of turmeric in 0.5 liters of water. Stir, let it brew for a few minutes and strain through cheesecloth.
3. After pruning, place the orchid in a turmeric water solution for 30 minutes – this will disinfect the roots.
4. Select a suitable container, fill it with water and immerse the plant in it so that only the tips of the roots are in the water.
We put the container with the plant in a cool and dry place, periodically changing the water, and wait for the root system to recover.
5. Now you can transplant the plant into a new substrate.
By the way, orchid leaves are treated with turmeric infusion against fungus. The remedy also promotes leaf growth and restoration.
