Oddly enough, but the first colorful spring flowers tulips need minimal care. It is for their unpretentiousness that summer residents value them.
And in order for flowers to appear in the spring, they need to be planted in the fall.
Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", an agronomist and landscape designer, told when to plant tulips.
Tulip bulbs are planted in the fall, and there is no better time than the rainy season. But this is a conditional guideline.
Depending on the climate and weather, work is planned for the period from the beginning of October to the beginning of December.
The main task is for the bulbs to take root before the onset of winter frosts.
1. You need to choose a sunny and wind-protected area where you need to prepare the soil.
2. The soil should be loose, neutral, slightly alkaline. Sandy soil is more suitable, and clay soil is diluted with sand.
3. Ash and peat are added during digging. Manure and fertilizers with chlorine are not used.
4. The depth of the hole is equal to three bulb diameters. On average, small bulbs are planted at a depth of up to 8 cm, and large ones at a depth of up to 15 cm.
After the snow falls, you need to cover the planting site to protect it from frost.
