General recommendations
You can collect an organic composition. For this you will need:
- bark (pine, larch or oak);
- charcoal;
- fern root;
- sphagnum moss.
For inorganic composition you need to buy:
- perlite and vermiculite;
- expanded clay or foam plastic chips (layer up to 3 cm at the bottom of the pot).
Soil for phalaenopsis orchids
To prepare a substrate for the most popular orchid, you need to mix:
- coal and tree bark in a ratio of 1:5;
- charcoal, moss and pine sawdust in a ratio of 1:2:5.
You can also add pine cones and coconut fibers.
How to process ingredients
To disinfect organic matter, you can keep the materials in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius or treat them with steam for 30 minutes.
When choosing the bark of coniferous trees, you need to make sure that it contains resin.
