You can deal with parasites on your property not only with the help of constant treatments.

The thing is that some animals are great helpers in this matter. For example, birds, toads and hedgehogs can help remove caterpillars and other harmful bugs from the beds.

But what to do if the problem is the Colorado potato beetle, which is constantly trying to destroy potato, tomato or eggplant crops?

There is a solution here.

As experts note, if you let partridges, pheasants, chickens or turkeys into potato beds, they will "thin out" the number of pests, but you should not count on a guaranteed elimination of beetles. In addition, you should remember that you cannot force birds to eat only beetles. This may be unsafe for them.

You can also pay attention to beneficial insects, which also help in the fight against the Colorado potato beetle. But they eat them only at the egg or larval stage, and do not touch adult individuals.

It is very easy to attract bright insects. For example, if you spray the tops of plants with a solution of water and sugar. You can also make a paste of sugar and yeast, and then spread it on the pegs between the plantings.

Ground beetles, which readily settle in compost heaps and on heavily mulched soil, effectively deal with larvae.

Lacewing larvae will also get rid of Colorado beetle eggs and larvae. They do not touch adult insects. Lacewings can also be attracted using a solution of sugar and water.
